But with all that sunshine, I’ve learned how important it is to protect my skin while enjoying the outdoors. Over the years, I’ve developed my own little rituals that keep me glowing and healthy, even on the hottest days. Here’s what works for me, and I hope it helps you too!

I’ll be honest—sunscreen is a non-negotiable for me because I suffer from dark spots.
Over the years, I’ve learned that using SPF 50 or higher with a matte finish for summer makes a huge difference. I reapply it several times throughout the day, whether I’m heading out for a walk, hitting the park with my dog, or just grabbing a coffee.

Pro tip: Don’t forget often-missed spots like your ears, neck, and the back of your hands. A sweat-resistant formula is perfect for outdoor workouts or beach days.
2. Lightweight Skincare for Active Days
When you’re active, heavy creams and makeup can feel stifling. Instead, I go for lightweight, breathable skincare—my routine always includes Vitamin C, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid. This combo keeps my skin hydrated, bright, and protected from sun damage.

Pro tip: Incorporate serums that combat sun damage, like Vitamin C, which brightens skin, reduces dark spots, and protects against free radicals. Niacinamide and hyaluronic acid are also fantastic for soothing and hydrating post-sun skin.

My eyes are very sensitive to light and sun, so I don’t just wear sunglasses with UV protection—I make sure they’re polarized for that extra comfort and safety. I also prefer oversized sunglasses because they provide extra coverage, protecting the delicate skin around my eyes from UV damage. Plus, they’re a stylish addition to any summer outfit!
A lip balm with SPF is another must-have in my summer beauty routine. The skin on our lips is thinner and more delicate than the rest of our face, making it extra vulnerable to sun damage. I always choose a lip product that also has nourishing ingredients like shea butter, vitamin E, or coconut oil to keep my lips soft and hydrated.
4. Post-Workout Skincare Routine
After your outdoor sweat session, cleanse your face to remove sweat, sunscreen, and dirt. Follow with a gentle toner and a cooling moisturizer to soothe any sun exposure.

Did you know some herbal teas contain electrolytes? Examples are hibiscus, chamomile, green tea, and mint. I usually add some lime to the last two for a fresh twist.
Pro tip: Coconut water and herbal teas are great alternatives to stay hydrated and cool.
